It has been a year since someone tried to break into my house and shot at me with a gun. I have been having very vivid nightmares about the day it happened. It has taken alot from me. I seem to not be handling it very good. I hope they go away soon.

Nightmares
dearest 01harley, I don't know how I would have been able to handle that myself. I think that is everyone's worst nightmare in not being safe in your own home. Is your PTSD still being addressed by a therapist? I'm sorry that you continue struggling with that. And I hope it fades from your memory soon so that you can move forward. Sending you a hug to let you know I care. xx
Thank u so much. It seems like talking about it with my therapist has made the dreams more real and almost every night. I know I have to get over it. Its something inside of me I need to bury. I guess it will be up to me to do it. I pray the good lord will show me the way.xx
It isn’t anything you caused or have any control over. It is the way the brain deals with a traumatic event. Be patient with yourself and allow time to distance yourself from the event.
Holy Buckets, Harley, how completely horrible for you! I'm so sorry this happened. I don't believe I'd handle the situation much better. Are you in the same home? I hope whoever did this is locked up tight away from you. Bless you.
Gosh I can’t imagine this happening ..It is awful...
I don’t think many would handle it very well.
With time it should most definitely get easier for you, I hope the nightmares pass and become lovely dreams, as you deserve that 🌺🌼🌺🌼
Thank you. Looking at your pictures can fill my mind with thoughts of different places and wondering what it would be like to visit other places. It's like good dreams.🤗
Good 😀 yes I do the same
Even when I’ve been to those places I take myself back to the memory, it provides some peace...
Best wishes 💕 x
You sound like a very courageous person to me. That situation would terrify anyone.
One thing that can help is orienting yourself back to the present time through your senses. Let your feet feel the ground beneath you. Take a deep breath and notice if there are any smells. Use your ears to see if you hear a fan, air conditioning, traffic, the trees rustling in the wind, etc. Let your eyes settle on something pleasant in your surroundings and really look at it. And use your hands to touch an object and feel its shape and texture. Fully experiencing the present moment can help relieve those feelings of reliving the past.
Take good care and I hope that you are having sweet dreams very soon.
