On top of my breakup withdrawal, I had to put my 18 year old cat to sleep this weekend. I am really struggling to cope.

I am sorry for the loss of your cat who has a special place in your heart. Being the person making the decision is tough but we do it with our furry friends best interests at heart. 🐾 RIP

Oh I feel for you, I have had to part with cats and it was always painful, some of them now still hurt. I have a 15 year old and wonder how long we will be together, I also have a 6 year old, so I have to live a long time, I am 78 and live by myself. Please know your cat is in "Cat Heaven" and will be there to greet you when you go. Can you buy a stuffed animal cat that looks like yours, take it to bed with you and cuddle with it, or when you watch TV, my neighbor gave me one when I had to part with my 17 year old favorite, it is in the bedroom with me, I have pictures of him and my other cats at that time. Can you go to the animal shelter and find a cat in need of a forever home?

Please go ahead and grieve, the next weeks will be painful, cry what ever you have to do to let the pain out. Once you are well enough, go to the animal shelter and consider getting a kitten, that will distract you from your pain as you fall in love with it.

I am so sorry. I had one of my cats die from old age about 6 months ago and it still hurts. I have another about the same age and he is starting to get down and scares me to death.
