i was just switched over from 10mg to 20mg of lisinopril. I just went back to work and it was stressful under current conditions. On 10mg lisinopril for 1 yr. i started getting light headaches, always a bit nauseous, slight dizziness. i went to the doc and she prescribed a higher dose 20mg. A day later i took myself to the emergency room because i was experiencing cold hands, slight tingle in my arms, bld pressure of 162/112, dizziness, weakness, chills, etc. No one told me it could potentially be the increase in Mg's from this drug. 2 days later i feel like a zombie, i am weak, body is tight, no appetite, leg cramps. i still have 10mg i can take. a week ago i was running and moving about. today, i must move slowly and am weak in picking things up. I want to be done with this drug or wean off. today, I would like to take my 10mg dose. I know this drug is not good for me. I can feel it in every cell in my body. It's all so instinctive. Advice? Anyone experience this?
Over the past 4 days 20mg of Lisinopr... - Anxiety and Depre...
Over the past 4 days 20mg of Lisinopril made me feel emergency room awful, Should i take 10mg of Lisinsopril to get back to nomral strength?
I would ask my doctor about possibly switching you to propranolol or something else instead, if it continues. The stress could definitely be playing a roll though too. I get that way when I am stressed and start not sleeping well. I am in the midst of switching myself, just because propranolol is suppose to help with anxiety and blood pressure, currently taking both. I have had those symptoms taking them but they went away. And popped up randomly so it was hard to tell, and not severe. Those are all side effects of both of these medications though.
Thank you for telling me about your experience. I'm going to dig deeper on the root cause...that is something that has yet to fully explored.
You will need to allow the revised dose to work, possibly four to five weeks.
Looking at your blood pressure it is high. Although could it have risen because you were in Accident Emergency.
You can also have words with your Doctor again. A telephone consultation in the UK

Thank you. My blood pressure and all these symptoms were nowhere near what i experienced after increasing to 20mg. Im going to another dr. & deeply feel i should not be at 20mg. I am not feeling "right" even now. I don't feel safe to even drive. When i started on 10mg, my body did not react to this extent. So, i know this knocked my system way out of sorts. Im dropping down to 10mg. It has to be better than this. Again, i have an appt with a new doc. I went to urgent care & no conversation was had about potential side effects. Reading all the info out there, this doc should have guided me more thoroughly knowing these side affects could potentially be so extreme, but I also hold some blame because i trusted without question.
Generally with these medications your Doctor MAY introduce a low dose initially increasing it about four weeks to an increased dose. So given that it will most probably have further side affects until you get used to this increase, All standard procedure
However as you explain you see another Doctor, if your Anxiety is still bad He will follow a correct pathway for this medication, It is sometimes difficult for the Patient is unwell
Remember your Doctor is in partnership with you as far as your health problems are concerned.

I've been taking it for six months and recently had it increased to 20mg and I feel like hell also! I have shortness of breath and anxiety now has kicked in. I'm going to see my doc next month but I'm sure she will just want to change the med. I'm so sick of this blood pressure issue. Like why can't they find the root cause instead of putting us on a med that makes us feel worse. What ever happened with your situation?
