How are you counteracting the anxiety/panic pangs associated with the possibility of getting sick?

For a while I was really stressed about me getting sick or someone I care about getting sick, but what helped me was understanding it is not a situation you can control. Social distance and wash your hands often, but other than that there is nothing else you can do. The recovery rates for COVID-19 are actually very high, especially in a place with a decent hospitals. Try and stay optimistic, less and less people are getting the disease every day.

I get that…and thank you for your encouragement. But it feels like something we CAN control by limiting contact with other people/the outside world. When need supplies and stuff the outside world becomes a variable. So I guess it’s more of a fear of the inevitable than a specific control issue. Fearing sickness and death, and fearing that my 3.5 y/o could lose a parent are feeling so real.

I am fortunate that I haven’t had to entertain those ideas before, but it doesn’t change how terrible that would be and the imagination of that is just soul-crushing.
