Hello all. I am new on here and looking for some support through this crazy thing we call life with people who also have the same thought processes I do. I have had depression and anxiety issues for almost 13 years. Of course like many of you on here I have went to counseling, doctors, and tried countless medications. During this pandemic I have really realized how unhappy I am with how I conduct my life. I am very unmotivated and will stay awake scrolling through Facebook till 4am and sleep till 11am. I then sit and loaf around all day and evening. I can’t motivate myself to cook, clean, or do anything productive. I cry a lot when I think of my life and my tendencies. I just want to completely change the person I am but just don’t know how or where to start. Is there anyone out there who could give me any advice on where to start?
I’m excited to hopefully find someone to connect with, if this sounds like you or you’ve been in my position please reach out to me.

I have had those time in life where motivation was totally absent. It was when my depression was at its worst. With all the isolation we are all feeling right now it’s not a surprise you are feeling this way. I am so glad you are reaching out and talking. Right now is the perfect time to find a good counselor. I went through 25 years of depression and didn’t think I would ever be free but one day I woke up and saw beauty again thanks to God. My depression stemmed around trauma I later found out but it’s so important to work through it and become the unique, important person God created you to be. Please know I am praying for you. -Rachel
I completely second kait morton on youtube and any CBT.
Someone once taught me a technique to do things when I'm not motivated, if you think "I should go shower" or "the dishes need to get done" count to 5 then go do it, that way you're not putting it off. It sounds stupid and like it won't work but it does. You dont have to do the entire thing (like if it's the dishes, just put a few in the dishwasher or something).
Another thing I found that helps is to just sit outside, even if you're not doing anything getting fresh air helps. Its helped pull me out.
