Welcome Cutiey75, even though finding the right medication is a trial and error

thing, it does take a combination of tools to make it work. Medication and therapy

are always a good combo, but then along the way we need to find other methods

that will reduce our stress levels. This must be a continuing daily practice so that

we basically are reprogramming our mind to respond positively when struggling

with symptoms. I'm so glad you have taken this step in joining our support forum.

As we share our journey together, we learn from each other. We help each other

not feel so alone as well as find methods that may work for us as they do for others. :) xx

I don't know if your looking for advise on meds or just making a statement...I've spent lots on meds and suppements and have dropped the idea that there's a chemical imbalance needing fixed.....(me alone...not speaking for anyone else). I've found some interesting stuff on how "histamine intolerance" can affect a person's mood. It's an interesting subject ...I've diagnosed myself as being histamine intolerant and am currently lowering histamine levels with pro-biotics and otc anti-histamines. I think there's been some improvement in my mood...I know the histamine's gone down quite a bit.

Hi! Have you tried abilify? Abilify was a game changer for me! I had been dealing with depression for 10+ years before so I know how frustrating it can be! I’m not saying what works for me will work for you.. but it’s def worth a try! A good friend of mine was taking Effexor xr (same as me) and her doctor added abilify and taadaa made all the difference for the both of us!

Abilify has worked wonders for me too!

It caused me to go on a severe roller coaster back in summer of 2006, and only recently was on low dose of lexapro (not even the clinical level, though I never shared that with the psych) for a situational depression (2-3 months, 2018 - 2019). For me, exercise, nutrition, and a set schedule worked better. .. everyone is different and things work sometimes and then not later on.. I hope everyone finds some peace today.

Hi there, I'm glad you are seeking relief to how you are feeling. Have you thought that there is a possibility that medication might not be the only answer, part of the answer, or not the answer? Do you have a therapist that you discuss these things with? I have spent some time working through this book (though I also had to work through periods of intense anger and rage ...) The Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Depression: Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to Move Through Depression and Create a Life Worth Living. I wish you luck and hope you find some relief from your depression today (and tomorrow and the next day). Take good care.
