Wow editing a book?where do I start ?lol I’d love to write my own book

in reply toAfrohair

Well I didn't write it either :) I'm just the editor.

I like editing though, it's like doing a puzzle.

Thanks for the post. Good idea!

So someone sends you the paper copy and you write it up and everything ?that’s so cool

in reply toAfrohair

Well, it's my friend's memoirs. She has interesting stories to tell. She was born in Russia in 1933 and has lived through so much.

Personally, I think it's an interesting exercise for anyone to undertake, whatever your age, background.

Sort of reevaluate the stories you retain (often just in your own mind)and just putting it out there for the world: this is me! This is what I consider my defining moments.....

Wow that’s great I used to write stories when I was younger very young around 7 or 8 and poems I was a good writer my mum used to run a creative writing course hence why I did it so young .I’ve always thought about writing my own book but don’t know where to start it’s harder now family life takes over and I looked at publishers and there always seems to be some kind of fees to get your work seen

in reply toAfrohair

Yea, it can get expensive. I think though, now there are more options out there. Probably too many lol!

I'll be researching self-publishing in a couple of months and I could share my findings here, if you're interested.

😀I impress myself sometimes lol my mum runs a sewing class once a week so she taught me everything I know x

in reply toAfrohair

Thats good lol

Was it hard to learn?

Afrohair profile image
Afrohair in reply to

No not really I did general sewing at school so kind of picked up where I left off I’m not a big fan of following patterns though I like to be very free flow with my sewing but sometimes you just have to follow a pattern if your making a dress and things I like to make upholstery more like curtains poufees and cushions wheres as mum likes dress making

in reply toAfrohair

It sounds really good, id like to try it myslef.

I bet you make some great stuff. :)

Gardening and travel

in reply to

travel is an indoor activity? Virtual perhaps?

in reply to

Whatever

I have my own library containing books on places I have visited, that diverts my thoughts.

I spend my evenings looking at picture books or where I have been in the past. I can also take the pictures further by looking at my reference section to refresh my memory.

I have a congenital Short Term Memory Disorder, Taking Pax out for a walk. We take the garden as part out houses grounds

Oh be careful watching your grandkids I thought that wasn’t allowed during the outbreak I know lots of parents are struggling whilst still at work and leaving childminding to grandparents who are more at risk from the virus it must be awful not seeing them at such a difficult time I know I can only FaceTime my mum for the time being until the government tells us she Dosent need shielding she does have Further health condition however.i wouldn’t want you to be at any kind of risk x

Well they are siblings, two live with me and two live with my daughter. She lives two blocks away and they are quarantined like I am. My daughter and I work for the same caregiving agency so we are essential workers. My husband is also. Sooo we are doing the best we can at social distancing and quarantining ourselves but it's just not possible to not be together. They are older and doing well with hand washing and helping keep house disenfected. :) Thanks for your concern though. My husband works at the local army installation with school age children. I worry he will be exposed more than I am and bring it home. It's a frightening time for everyone. I'm 54 and he's 57. We both have high blood pressure so that does put us in the higher risk range. My daughter has asthma and so does her youngest. So we are taking this very seriously.
