How do you feel more fulfillment/purpose in life?

first post to anything like this, I've been struggling for sometime with feeling like life is pointless, and an overall lack of motivation. Since being in lockdown I'm stuck at home not going to school or work anymore, not being able to be social anymore, I'm not sure what to do anymore to make myself feel like I have a purpose.

Right now tylerdu, we all have the same purpose in life and that is to protect

ourselves and our friends by staying put. There is no greater purpose than

to be considerate and give those around us the gift of life. Welcome to the Forum :) xx

Hey tylerdu, welcome!

It is definitely a difficult time. We’re social beings and being in complete isolation isn’t good for us. Now is the time to reach out to family and friends, in some way you’re comfortable with. (Whether through social media, texting, calling, FaceTime, letters or whatever). Do you do that?

Or? Making new friends on apps/websites like this! When I was working on learning German and helping other with their English, different language apps were a nice way to talk to others.

I honestly haven’t done any of that yet. Luckily, I’m not in the dorms and I have my brothers and sisters with me. But, I still miss everyone else. (Idk i re-downloaded Snapchat but that’s not really my scene). Let me know if you find a way to be social with others!

Even though school is cancelled, it might not be a bad thing to decide to set aside time to study? Mine’s coming back in an online format only and I am excited for the deadlines to come to force me to do something.

It might be good to set up a life schedule for your days at home. You need a new routine - one that starts off your day with kindness and excitement. Maybe that’s waking up and hopping in the shower. Or waking up and watering your plants. You could journal (I’d write 3 things you’re excited for the new day, 3 things you’re thankful for, and 3 people who you miss... or something like that). You’re at a home a lot now!

You could have scheduled dance parties with yourself. You could practice on whatever hobby awaits you. You could set aside 30 minutes to exercise (there are plenty of apps or just videos on YouTube).

I don’t know exactly what’s going to work for you or get us all through this. But, we’re all going through it together! It’s something that we’ll look back on and remember.

It might be good to remind yourself this is temporary. That your role as a student and a worker is* still a part of who you are... they’re waiting for you when this virus stuff slows down. The responsibilities, your skills, and the people who depend on you still exist! You’re important! Make a list of people and places that depend on you!!!! (Even your favorite local coffee shop or supermarket or whatever will still need your business or appreciate seeing you).

You matter!! It’s worth finding ways to remind yourself that and taking care of yourself during this time!

😊😊

OK, what you need to do is take time to appreciate what you have. Go outside and see how beautiful this planet can be, see all the amazing birds. Try to start a practice of voicing your gratitude for those who love you, those who you come into contact with, and what you have. There are millions of people on this planet who don't even have food..

If you are willing to say

or ask yourself THIS

What area in your life do you need more work on?

What have I been lacking in and how can I fix this?

For example.. have i been resting? Have I been taking care of myself?

Do I need to clean up my house, have i gotten to fixing that one thing?

Do i not talk to my mom and dad enough? Should I give a call to my sibling and see what they are doing? That can be a start..

or what about..have I been talking myself down lately... Have i not been treating myself after a good work well done..? For passing that test..? Maybe i should give myself that candy to reward myself for even getting up this morning, for attempting to cook for myself, for attempting to clean up, for allowing myself to reach out to the internet because I am acknowledging the fact that I don't feel good right now and want to change it. I applaud you for that because that's 1 good and big a* step to getting somewhere!

Maybe..maybe this coroNO is a good thing..maybe just maybe it isn't the end all be all.

Just maybe I can have fun for myself and/or my family by doing the things that I liked when I was little. Did you like painting? Did you like writing stories? Did you build forts? Did you watch horror movies just to shxt your pants for fun(ok well maybe not that but)...Hey if your down for that and you have friends, then maybe get your butts together and have a video-call and do just that. Have your snacks and watch a specific movie/show together that way.

You feel what I'm saying?

Take care of yourself,

0 in on that sucky relationship w/ BOB cause yall dont talk to eachother much..Just say something random like how you feel about coroNO..it's scary but it's a start..
