New job anxiety

Hi everyone! I’m new to this community. I dealt with anxiety for over 12 years and manage it pretty well...until today.

I started a new job and have to work remotely due to the Coronavirus. I had a horrible anxiety attack before my first virtual meeting and had to take a lorazepam to calm down. I’m terrified of how bad my anxiety will be when we’re allowed back in the office - especially since that will be my first day working in the office and not in my own home.

Does anyone have any tips for remaining calm or dealing with anxiety when starting a new job.

Thank you in advance!! ☺️

Thank u!

One thing you are working, doing the job at home without being in the Office, you must be confident in the job to be in the situation you find yourself in.

Do you not feel you are looking forward to see your work friends,

When I was at work most of my time was going out to meetings and having to negotiate various works to be done, they were large contracts and I had to be able to make decisions.

In the beginning like you I found making decisions and negotiating types of work it was hard and I was a Depressive in the end I loved the freedom it gave me and been able to be trusted.

You are half way there having walked through that wall of fire, stop worrying you are doing very well. In complex times, your Employer should be pleased with you as all this viral problem clears

Keep a hold and enjoy any challenges brought about

Hi there,

I’m so happy that you have learned to manage your anxiety. It isn’t easy, is it? I had to learn some calming techniques when I was working for a boss that made me feel anxious. I felt this anxiety every time I had to be in his office. It was a stressful time and I didn’t really understand why I was feeling the way I was; after all, we shared the same faith and he never did anything inappropriate toward me. None-the-less, it was a feeling. I have to ask myself questions like “Where is this coming from?” and “How would the Lord have me to respond?” Those two questions have helped me to work through many of my thoughts.

Do you think that your anxiety is because of the unusual situation that you are experiencing from working at home? When you think about it, it will be “everyone’s” first day back in the office, when everyone is released to go back to work, right?

I use prayer, reading the Bible, talking with friends, listening to church services and Christian music, and exercise to calm my mind--and this also helps me to sort through what the truth is about my feelings. This gives me a peace that truly passes all understanding. I hope it helps you, too. I am sure thinking of you during these trying times.

Thank you very much! I think working from home and not getting the “normal” training really got to me. I need to remember that this is a scary, weird, isolating time for everyone and we’re all navigating it together.
