Hi everyone. I am dealing with both anxiety and depression and a big thing that has been affecting me is apathy and the lack of interest in anything. Do you have any advice to help with apathy?

I understand the struggle. I also had apathy and lost of interest. I don’t have much that helped except medication. I think changing my medication helped me. I hope you feel better soon!

I think the one thing that beats apathy is creativity. You do not need to be an artist or musician for that. You can create a to do list, a travel plan, an instruction video, etc.

Your apathy is part of your depression. If you spend short amounts of time on past loves or experiencing new ones, you may be able to kindle something.

this can be caused by Depression and Anxiety.

I generally look for hobbies and diversions I like, That helps me control any negative feeling I may be suffering from. I come on these sites, look at my books, garden planning, tacking the dog out and watch the television. When it is warm we visit Historic Houses and gardens and castles. I love the countryside and the beaches and sea.

iF Apathetic you need to break the cycle, Have you any interest. In the past I would love swimming thirty five lengths three times a week before I was made chronically disabled

I’ve been trying to draw more, since I used to enjoy it

Do what you enjoy, make your Hobbies and diversions something like a reward for doing some chores etc . I spend most of my days either here or helping in the housework to help my Wife. In the evenings I look at my picture books and watch the television or You Tube where I set myself a night of films I am interested in. Even with my memory concerns I remember this fro the day before by placing books that I was looking at on the table this helps my memory move on.

Make list of things you wish to do work time, personal time eventually you will be able to get back into the habit of looking after yourself and environment

However give yourself time to do things you enjoy
