Lack of sleep

Lately I’ve been struggling to sleep straight through the night or get a restful nights sleep.

Everytime I close my eyes I am envisioning something bad happening and In turn end up constantly scared at night. Or I wake up in the middle of the night with racing thoughts and can’t quiet my mind down.

Any advice for getting a goodnight sleep? I’ve tried a lot of different thing like melatonin and music

Have you tried Relaxation Technique, Mindfulness, that may calm your mood and allow you to move on. I try not to watch television with violence etc just before bed, this helps me keep myself in a relaxing mood as I try to sleep.

Have your supper two or three hours before bed, this will prevent your tummy digest food when you are going to sleep. This sort of thing can prevent sleep.

What are your dreams, content, sometimes to know that may help you come to terms with your worries and move yourself on

When I can't sleep I get out of bed, staying there I can not stop thinking of everything that is happening in my life. I get up put on the tele. computer or read. It is 6.15am I have been up since 5am. I have retired so I can make up my sleep if I stay home. Some nights I have a really good nights sleep, try to think what is different then, I am grateful when that happens, mostly though I am an insomniac. Sometimes I take herbal tablets but I am never going on drugs for sleeping. Years ago I was given some, they worked too well, I felt like a zombie the next day, so never again.

As we get older we seem to need less sleep, however the sleep we have seems to be sufficient, We go to bed about 12, and awake at seven, and then listen to the radio for one and a half hours before getting up for breakfast, then taking Pax out for His Walk.

Look at your need for sleep especially if retired, you will possibly find you may be going to bed to early, hence waking up early in the morning

I go to bed at midnight but I fall asleep watching programmes on television, even if I really like it, I can not stay awake. When I do go to bed I read and listen to the radio until my husband comes up. He goes straight to sleep, I rarely do. Then I wake 2 or 3 times for no reason.

I wake up at three in the morning generally to go to the WC, then I go back to sleep to about 06;30.

If you are sleeping before you go to bed it may be you are not as tired, if you also go to bed and read until your husband comes to bed your sleep pattern may be in a mess.. It may be if you form a habit of sleeping in bed at regular times and getting up at the same time in the morning it may sort itself out and you would feel better.

Everyone is a creature of habit, we change over a given time after a forming of a new habit
