i hear ya (though i'm not anywhere near as cautious about what i say as i ought to be). I was at a fairly raucous party a couple years back where there was a psych nurse from a local hospital there partying with us. we got talking and she told me that she had read my entire psych chart even though she herself had virtually NO part in my care (she only worked with adolescents and i was in my mid 20s). total violation of the hipaa rules, but if you happen to get one drunk you'll find out that they don't really give a **** about patient privacy.

And people wonder why "trust" is hard to have with others.

My Wife now attends all my appointments and also manages my medications. She also has a say and is given to understand why things are the way they are. I am sixty nine, with a Chronic Disability, Congenital Short Term Memory Disorder and problems with blood pressure to the brain. Also I suffer depression caused by the damage to my neck spine etc

In a way asked about a year ago when my conditions were just the same I would have probably said the same as you

Sometimes we need to be able to move on and accept various things in life we would prefer not to happen. I am going through reductions in medication at this time and it is beginning to get more complicated. I am glad my Wife is managing my medications

Consider your needs and expectations, Ask yourself how your treatment is being managed and if you could have managed yourself. without some form of interference

You are who you are and we do not know the implications or health problems you have

BOB

That's a definite....Plus.. don't be afraid to fire them...because a better one is out there..trust me on this one..Ive learned the hard way also.

Great post...because a lot of people trust doctors..just because they r doctors.

i really ought to stop posting stuff on here for today, but on this topic of not always trusting doctors, i can't help but recall a time i was inpatient in buffalo general hospital. it was one of the first times i've been inpatient and i was still learning how the system does (or does not) work. it quickly became clear that the only way to get discharged was by the head psychiatrist. so i began pleading with him to let me go every morning when he'd come around. One day he told me exactly what i wanted to hear and that he'd let me go finally. He said i could go home first thing tomorrow. the next day, a different doctor came around. when i inquired where the usual doc was i was informed that he went on a 2 week vacation and that Nobody was getting discharged until he came back. i trust the doctors about as far as i can throw them. what's the old saying: "if it sounds too good to be true...."

That happens in general wards too. There is no one there to sign you off as they don't refer your case for discharge. Agree trust is difficult with any doctor who let's you down. The tv programmed with doctors being paid thousands for appearances are happy to breach confidentiality. These programmed encourage gossip from strangers who then look at you as if you have come off a different planet. The person becomes a subject of gossip and is damaged so they find it hard to remain private . People suffer in silence as the health care system is open to entertainment and they don't understand the repercussions of such privacy invasion.

As a veterinarian. The code or ethics is

Extremely high (obviously not in human medicine)

I can not

Even indicate that I have been in someone else’s horse farm as the news can be devistzting to stallion owners etc

U will be crucified in vet med if u say anything

In my case I gave some person information

And the next thing I knew the entire ward knew about it and secret arrangements with my boss and family who I was trying to escape tip of the iceburg

When I left practice a friend emptied his truck

My psychiatrists called my boss in my residency to tell him

I stole all kinds of things from the hospital

A total fabrication

Tip

Oof the iceburg

I have had good ones and thanked them

I have written everyone for thirty years about good caring nurses but the system just pats usxall in the head as we are patients

And they are incredibly condsending and patronizing

I have done some one the hairiest anesthesia cases

During mybresudency seventteen small animal and fuvrvlarge animal cases per day

No not really since I taught physiology and anatomy for over ten years and used to be in er and icu and anesthesia
