I have just had a lovely weekend with one of my best mates, a yellow lab.
I was first introduced to her through the website Borrow my doggie we have here in the UK. It links up dog owners with people who would love to own a dog but have to resort to borrowing one. We were always dog owners but had to stop after we lost our wonderful Springer Colin because we travel alot and also did not want to go through the loss of another beloved pet.
It is great to have regular dogs you borrow and get close friends with as well as getting to know their owners and being really appreciated by them for what you do.
It was a great help to me whilst recovering from depression and anxiety and continues to be a source of reward and support as well as a great way to excercise.
I may eventually do another post about this lab, she is a wonderful dog who definitely thinks she is a human!!
As a warning, one of the down sides of borrowing dogs is that a very close relationship can be cut off suddenly at the whim of an owner. There are so many upsides however.

That Borrow doggie site sounds brilliant! Sometimes it really IS about the simple pleasures in life, and interaction with pets is always a bonus in someone's life. Thank you for sharing this and introducing us to this special girl in the photo.
What a wonderful idea. And such a beautiful dog! We have always had dogs who are lab mixes and my daughter has a golden retriever named Daisy. I don't think my daughter was prepared for Daisy's energy level when she got her as a puppy. I try not to laugh at her antics since I was always the one on puppy duty. For Christmas I bought Daisy a new collar and got matching shoes for my daughter so they can walk together in style. I understand what you mean about travel when you have a dog. The losses are always devastating. They are a huge part of our family and give us unconditional love. So glad you can borrow your beautiful friend.
What a wonderful idea to buy your daughter and Daisy matching shoes and collar.
Awe. ❤️ We have fostering programs, these programs would work well for those here that need companionship but cannot make a live in commitment. I think in my opinion dogs like labs are amazing therapy dogs.
I have love labs. I’ve got 2 chocolate. And yes, she waiting to retrieve so throw it already. 😀
What a lovely idea, I never knew about this website.
Like you, we go out a lot and cannot have a dog, but because I am feeling 90% better these days and am alone most of the day as my husband still works... This would be ideal for me to get more walking done as I can't walk on my own I feel silly, especially in the Forest, bit creepy...
