I have not posted in a while but have been reading posts daily. I was recently prescribed Gabapentin for anxiety. I have not seen any side effects other than some sleepiness. The Doc said I can take up to 3 capsules a day, but one usually does the trick. However lately it seems like I have to take 2 or 3 to handle anxiety. Do any of you have experience with GABA, and do you know if it is addictive? Is it normal to have to increase dosage?
Thanks

I've taken this for anxiety before, I couldn't handle the sleepiness and caused mood changes and effected an already messed up sleep pattern.
What I know about it is, it has a low potential for tolerance and addiction, as long as you take it as prescribed. I'd keep a journal of your anxiety and the doses you take and any side effects new or changing ones.
Thank you for the info. I did not think to keep a journal on this, but that would also remove one of my issues which is I tend to dwell on things like this. If I write it down, I don't have to constantly keep wondering about anxiety and the meds effects.
Yes they started me off on a low dose and gradually increased it. I have taken it for both anxiety and pain, it would help me a little with the anxiety and pain but not so much with my sleep. And I did get addicted to them because they gave me energy and a sense of euphoria, something I hadn't had for along time. Some days I would take as much as 4,800mg, I've heard of people taking up to 6,000mg a day. A lot of people say that it is not addictive, but to me it sure was. Medication is tricky though, because everybody is different.
