Ruminating tips

Do you find that you are trying to be happy in the present but you keep being interrupted by negative thoughts. Im also finding that I conclude that bad is happening to me. I want to be free like a hawk.

So far I am telling my mind stop and I deep breathe through it when the worry comes up but it still keeps coming up. How to ease and erase the anxious and/or ocd obsession?

For my anxiety I constantly distract myself with video games or something I enjoy doing for extended periods of time to not even give those negative thoughts a chance of intruding my mind. Find whatever you can do to pass time wether that be reading, chores, or TV. I hope you found something helpful in this post.

I watch movies and shows but I feel like I’m wasting too much time with those distractions.

Then you can try doing chores, running errands, reading, or even helping others that need help on this site. There are many ways to productively keep yourself occupied or learn a new skill, all you need is the motivation to do it.

Hi Starrlight, I think many of us including myself don't really understand the

concept of being in the moment. I use to think, what good is that if my moment

is filled with anxiety and fear? And then I read about what it really means to be

in the Present and what to do when the negative thoughts stop by.

We start by reeling ourselves into the present moment, leaving yesterday and

tomorrow behind. So there we are sitting on a comfortable chair or lying in bed.

We then find something we can focus on in the room. If in bed, you might choose

looking at the ceiling and how the light peeks in from the curtains/blinds and makes

a pattern on the ceiling. Once you start concentrating on something in that moment,

your negative thoughts will start to diminish since we can't think of 2 things at once.

Should a negative thought make it's appearance, quickly brush it aside.

As you do your deep breathing, your body will start to relax and your mind will soon

catch up to it. This is not a permanent solution but it does allow us to regenerate and

get that peace we need even for moments at a time. Everything takes practice and

patience for there is no magic wand. But eventually, it gets easier. Goodnight my friend. :) xx

I’ll be working on it. Thank you sooooo! ❤️

Yes, it always happens. I start a good day today and tomorrow, it's bad. But lately, I focused on watching asian horror movies that really intrigued me and scared the shit out of me hehe. Sometimes I look at my collections and feel happy. I always want to keep myself busy if I am not at work.

It's really hard to control the negative thoughts once they had started.

:)
