Prejudice beliefs

Hello beautiful people. ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒนI had a wonderful experience yesterday and would like to share this with you. I live in South Africa and I grew up during the time of apparheid where there was a law against whites mixing with other colours. I've since believed in the thoughts which are prejudice. I've lived next door to a wonderful black man and we've become friends. Yesterday, he sat with me under a tree and we kissed. It was a beautiful experience. We then spoke about our prejudice thoughts which became our beliefs and it was the first time I allowed my thoughts to be seen as well as my emotions which took me to a place of vulnerability. I spoke my fears and cried Infront of him which was true intimacy (in to me see). I allowed another human being to see the prejudice inside me as well as be real with my emotions regardless of the fear of rejection and judgement. I did this for the sake of me and it was such a successful experience. This is called courage. Courage to speak my truth regardless of the outcome. I'm also understanding that it's not just me that has prejudice beliefs as it's something all races have where we think the colour of our skin and culture is more superior than another. I'm also learning something from Cleopatra and that is... It's not the make up that makes us authentic and true and connected... It's the rose essence within. Have a beautiful day and evening. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน

It's nice that you are admitting to yourself and others that you had prejudicial beliefs but that you are willing to revisite those beliefs and maybe change your thoughts on what you thought was right and true.

You aren't letting hatred and fear of the unknown guiding you anymore, it's courageous to go against something you were taught to be right but it wasn't right.

That's a beautiful way of putting it, yes. Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’š I'm still working through the prejudices as the stereotype beliefs are in a lot of things... Old, young, rich, poor....I can only think that it all comes from comparison thinking... better, worse... seperation thoughts.

Personally ( I might be wrong), I think ppl are much more grouped together by their social economic status in stead of their races and skin colors.

Doesn't that kinda go hand in hand?

emm. There might be some correlations, however, the correlation really becomes weaker nowadays. I am an Asian, and I know of Asian people ranging from higher middle class to those living on welfare. Their mindset and political orientations are really different, and are very much grouped together based on their social economic status.

I also know some middle-class Africa American families that were actively supporting Trump(--- I am not giving any judgement here, and I think political view is really something private and worth respecting. )

As for romantic relationship and racism, I guess most people favor a spouse from his/her own race, this might just be human nature (studies say you just love someone who looks similar to you).

Religion also plays a role of course.

But for interracial relationships, I once read an interesting article, saying on the dating market, Asian male is at the bottom of the male chain, while black women is at the bottom of the female chain. This has little to do with economic status. I hope I won't be criticized for being "racism" here, I am an Asian, and I have sons. I just want to talk about it objectively.

Thanks to Democratic party, racism in USA is back in business, and everyone suddenly were labeled racist, and people were persuaded that they were racist (where they won't).

Regarding racism I always remember Morgan Freeman interview - Do you think there's thil racism? - Nowadays? No. - Why? - Look at us (he's a millionaire actor, interviewer dude was a black high-profile news host).

I agree with you that people's sensitivity towards "racial discrimination" has been greatly heightened in the past years in the United States. I won't say this country has zero racial discrimination (and no country in the world would have zero, that is just not possible), but I'd say there is absolutely no systemic discrimination against any race in this country. And if I do witness some scattered racial discrimination incidences, they can be discrimination from any race against any race, not necessarily involve Whites. White people got reverse-discrimination too.

I once read an article on New York Times written by an Asian writer, the title is "Why Is Asian Salad Still On The Menu?" The writer basically said the โ€œAsian Emperor Saladโ€ listed on the menu is a way to racially discriminate against Asians. Being an Asian myself, I thought her argument was just ridiculous. This article was later posted on many online Asian forums, and most responses were like, " i don't see any problem with 'Asian Emperor Salad' ", "i actually love the name 'Asian Emperor Salad'", "she is super oversensitive" "she is definitely overreacting".

I completely agree with what Martin Luther King said, "I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Every race has good people and bad people. We'd better judge a person by his doings, don't let skin colors become a criteria.

NYT is a liberal news and should not be taken seriously.

This anti -labeling has gobe way too far away from reality inside liberal heads.

I recall the campaigns(by white self righteous students) against Mexican character Speedy Gonzales (the mouse). The studios suspended this character with 70+years.

When ACTUAL MEXICANS were asked they said they loved the character.

...

so this originally anti-racism went really quickly from "hey, lets tolerate each other slightly more :)" to "we will deatroy things both sides like just to push our political agenda"
