I’m sorry I love Monday’s. I like focusing on my schedule and work. I’m more anxious when I don’t have a schedule and I have free time. (But, the work I do is not particularly M-F so it’s hard sometimes.)

Do you really like your job? I can remember feeling this way in my life time, I suspect you are are a female, and we often are discounted in the work force. I changed my job several times due to male shuvanist (spelling) treat, and low pay as I was a female. Listen to yourself, your gut feeling generally will not let you down. Seek out other employment in healthy circumstances, be good to yourself, You deserve it. I send you courage, strength, love an hugs.....Sprinkle 1......

I work with children on the Autism spectrum and as much as I do love it, it is also hard, especially emotionally. I’ve been doing it for a while and have been feeling really stressed out this year. Probably why I feel so anxious come the beginning of the week. I’ve been thinking about other employment like you’ve mentioned.

Can you take some time off?

Yes, I feel this way at times. This is just my thoughts on feeling anxious during the week. Also, I have delt with anxiety and depression for most of my life and I'm now 44.

I think it's because the weekend is our time to finally wind down and relax so our anxiety decreases as Friday approaches. Our mind and body needs the down time. Over the years I have found I need to take a break or allow for more downtime "during the week" and this helps with my anxiety. It's not always easy to get that down time (those weeks are tough), but it's that or my health. I have to keep on top of those breaks and self-care or I dont feel well physically, emotionally or mentally. I saw where you work with children on the spectrum. I work with children as well. I love it, but it can be draining.

Make time for yourself, however you can mid-week and see if that doesn't help!

dogmom88, sorry that you are anxious. you are not alone. Have you thought about why you feel so anxious at the beginning of the week. do you recognize what triggers it. If you do, then that is half the battle. There are ways to fight back when you feel anxious. Try writing a journal describing your first wake up moment to the last thing you do before you close your eyes to sleep. be sure to include who you talk to, where you go, phone calls, and food and drinks. do this for one month. it may seem not motivated but it is well worth it. also, be creative. there is always more than one way to get tasks accomplished. ask for help if you need to. it doesn't mean that you are a weak person. Take deep breaths, listen to soothing music. get fresh air. chew gum... lol yes, it helps. hugs of encouragement.

Sabio77 thanks for the reply! I’m not sure what triggers my anxiety exactly. I’m still trying to figure it out. I definitely think work does to some extent. It’s been a stressful environment this year and when Sunday comes around I tend to think of work more. I like the journal idea and will try that. Listening to music seems to help or going for a walk. The trouble is where I live it gets dark at 4:30 so by the time I get home from work it’s dark! Thanks for your words of encouragement :)

you are very welcome my dear friend. I'm here for you anytime. I like your idea of walking.

I think I may have stumbled upon something. is it dark when you leave for work... if so you have what many people have called seasonal affective disorder. it simply means that you feel better when its sunny outside regardless of the cold or heat. if you think this is true for you. then, keep lights on in your home and work place when possible.

I also agree, a work place is a source of stress. but how we release/deal with that stress is important because as you said, it carries over into your home life. pm for I can help you ...

Yes I 100% think I have SAD. I feel soo much better during the spring/summer. It won’t start staying light out again until April so I have a long winter ahead of me. I used to exercise regularly but now I come home and feel tired. I’m determined to do something during the winter months to keep me going. Thinking of joining different exercise classes or something that will keep me active and my mind busy!

Ok, here is a suggestion. to gain energy in the SAD months is not limited to going to the gym but is helpful. I just looked up some information just for you. lol

ways to cope with SAD. avoid lots of carbs during this time. find "me time" like reading a book. rent a movie. use light therapy. or simply turn lights on when possible. hope this helps. let us know how things are going.
