I find the colours of autumn raise my spirits. I think of the winter evenings to come when I can sit by the fire in my little cottage home and shut out the cold winds and driving rain.
There's Christmas to think of with hot mince pies, warm mulled wine and chestnuts roasting in the oven. They sometimes went bang and scared our spaniel Colin out of his little doggy wits when he was still with us. I decorate our little cottage with holly with bright red berries and we bring in the Christmas tree from the garden to be decorated once again with the old familiar decorations even if there is only the two of us to see it. We go to our daughter and son in law for Christmas while our cottage sits lonely and empty over the festive period.
Wishing everyone a lovely autumn with a rise in spirits inspired by the beautiful autumn colours.

Yeah, I need some spooky shots of the moon through the trees....Any creative stories/poems/essays you can write about the moon, magic & the night, fantasy/sci-fi/supernatural, would be good for Moonlight, Magic & Mystery.
Any non fiction ideas like writings on the seasons & how they affect you...About how your writing & photography affects you (helps, harms, distracts you, ect.) are appreciated.
Really you can write almost anything and we could fit it somewhere. Doesn't mean all stuff will make it. But we hold onto to it for future projects too.
The more pics the merrier. Those collages are great! I'll pm you my email so you can send anything you want to me.
I'm glad I stayed too! Have a blessed day, my friend!
Thanks alot John. I will see what I come up with. To a certain extent my post write themselves. I do not know what will come when I start. The photos tend to inspire the posts.
Okay....There are 2 projects: Moonlight, Magic & Mystery a more fun and open project + Beauty & Art From Within The Shadows, a showcase for material from the people of this site. We are currently working on both projects...
I have have just done a other post which may do for your Magic moonlight a d mystery book. It is called something like autumn us the most magical season.
those are beautiful pictures, I so love flowers and as for Christmas I cant wait I already have my tree up but still have to decorate it! have a wonderful nite
I know what you mean about Christmas. I am like a kid when it comes to that. I enjoy looking at the decorations in the shops from early November and can't get enough of it. Takes me back to childhood I suppose.
I am lucky to have had a relatively happy childhood and Christmas was always a magical time. My parents weren't well off but always managed to make it special with inexpensive but imaginative gifts etc. Really feel for those whose parents did not do that for them.
Christmas can be a nightmare for unhappy families.
I made it very special for my daughter when she was little also.
Thanks Sue, I am so pleased it has inspired you to start looking for and photographing mushrooms. Do post a pic or two when you can. I would love to see some of the ones you have in Florida. Do your leaves fall from the trees there at all?
Yes, we have some deciduous trees, but not a lot. My banyan doesn't care about fall, but drops leaves much of the year when it feels like it. It's dropped a bunch in the last month, though, joining in on fall! π¦πMy 2 mushroom pix, plus I might have an old one, don't contain any colorful mushrooms. Not much to post. Can I send them just to you somewhere? If not, that's ok, too. Enjoy your photographing!π€π
John said he is going to PM me his email add so I can send things direct to him. If he does or if you do I will send you mine. I will also love to see any pics of your banyan tree or a y wildlife etc as I really love tropical plants and wildlife. It is really interesting to see what fungi you have in Florida so yes do please send me those pics also
