Hi, I finally went to the Drs this week to be given some Sertraline and signed off for a few weeks. Problem is I quit a job I loved after 18 years in the summer and started a new one in the hope my problems would be solved with a change of scenery - biggest mistake I've made. Now I'm contemplating trying to go back to previous job, I know there is a similar position open, is that a wise thing to do? My employers were shocked when I resigned. Also, my current employer is asking me to go to a meeting during my sickness absence, not sure I'm in the right frame of mind, can they force me to attend a meeting?
Anyone been on Sertraline? Appreciate any feedback.

What do you mean by sickness absence. are you on medical leave or just took some sick days. I don’t see why you couldn’t go back to your prior employer. What type of work were you doing?
Hi Bluesky125. Dr signed me off for 3 weeks whilst I started taking the meds. I work in an office doing accounts. Had so many things going on this year, my father in law is really ill, my son has a disability and started high school, my wife has a few health issues and I just felt helpless and for some reason put it down to some trivial issues at work and left the job. Problem now is, I've admitted I have a problem I'm scared of making another wrong decision and even before contacting my old employer I'm anticipating them turning me away.
It sounds like you've had a really stressful year and all that stress must have piled up on you to push you down into depression.
I think it's OK to try to get back with your former employer as long as you left on good terms. If you feel comfortable talking with them about it, you could do that or wait a while to see how you do on sertraline. If the medicine works for you, it can calm anxieties and lift depression so trying to change back to your former employer could go easier. If this med doesn't work, there are others that might.
I have been on sertraline (Zoloft) for 27 years, starting in August 1992, shortly after this SSRI med first came out. It literally saved my life. I started to feel noticeably better after only four days. It keeps me healthy minded and on an even keel. I also had many years of talk therapy to help me make changes in my life and learn how to handle stress in a healthy way to deal with depressive moodswings.
I am on Zoloft(sertraline) and it is working for me. You can safely take and no side effects.
You need to call employment services to see if they can. Usually it’s a No if you have a doctors note saying you’re not able. Let’s those people worry about themselves. I’ve been off work a few times the world keeps turning. Lol. I was in sertraline low dose. It’s a very good drug though cotton mouth is pretty bad and out of most drugs I’ve tried was brutal to get off and mean that. So when you do be prepared for that. That being said a very effective med. I actually think a lot of the older antidepressants work best. Just worry about filling your time & rest & try not to make life changing decisions for awhile. ... that’s smart. You won’t be same person in later being off work so forth is huge keep things simple you need that awhile
