Sertraline and insomnia

Hi, I’m new here and new to antidepressants. I was wondering if insomnia goes hand in hand with all SSRIs? I’ve been on Sertraline for a week and only had 1 proper nights sleep. I tried taking the pill in the evening first and now in the morning but no real difference in my sleep. I don’t feel that I can drive safely without sleep and am

worried about my job.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello Cammy1. Some medications can cause insomnia. When you got your medication there will be a leaflet with it. If you read the bit which says 'side effects' it should say if insomnia is one of the side effects. With some medication the side effects can wear off once the body is used to it. I would tell your doctor the medication is stopping you sleeping to see if they suggest you carry on or stop. Good luck.
