I adore this movie!! But can someone please explain the dynamics of Jack and Ally?? I know he is an alcoholic/drug user and there was verbal abuse. I feel like I can relate to their relationship plus physical abuse. But I want to know what am I not seeing from the outside. Co-dependency? Manipulation??

There have been many remakes or versions of this movie, but I think the Bradly Gaga one is the best. It's about a love relationship between a star on the way out and a star who is just becoming . I suppose the star feels used by the new star and the new star can't let the one on the way out pull her down. There is love , but it takes more than love doesn't it ? So Sad. and yet when it was good it was awesome. Goggle it. Pam

I cried so many times watching that movie. I never saw the earlier ones. Im interested. The end was just horrible with the garage door. He let her go because what i could see he was not good enough or bringing her down. yet she would have done anything for him. Not saying enable but you could feel the love they had for each other.

I agree love is not enough. Proof in my last relationship. I loved him and he loved me but his temptations got tge best of him. He couldn't stop cheating. Yet crying when he is kicking me out and in court. I was just like why are you doing this. He simply said bevause i can't hurt you anymore. You are too kind hearted and the better woman. This was the second time around too. Maybe he was lieing but i saw every tear he had and he saw mine. But my love or even his love for me was clearly not enough to save us. Im glad now I'm not with him. I dont want him back either.
