Daily Reminder-Panic

Hey just wanted to remind people, and you don’t have to agree with me but the goal isn’t to make it through the day or week without having a panic attack as hard as that is to sink in, because with that mindset we’re still allowing ourself to be afraid of no real danger. Instead the goal is that if you have one that you learn to work through it lessening the fear of it, which takes practice and consistency and over time the panic will lessen because you’ve taken the fear out and you’ve shown you’re brain through experience and repetitivenessthat we don’t need to run to “safety” and we’re safe where we are, and that’s when the panic will not come around as often

Nicyork, you are absolutely correct. That is the only way one can get better

by learning to accept anxiety and go through the fear. After a while anxiety

backs off and you are back in control. :) xx

Exactly, and that can cause us to feel defeated when we have one because we feel like that means we’re having a setback, but it’s all about the way we respond to the symptoms that makes all the difference.

Hi I agree with you but you need to do both. Looking too far ahead can be daunting so concentrate on a day to day basis of learning to understand and deal with anxiety. x

Yeah I agree! maybe I worded it wrong, what I mean for example is like on a Sunday thinking about your goals ahead for the week or what you want to accomplish in recovery, the goal shouldn’t be per say “I’m going to try and not have a panic attack this week” because it’ll hurt when you do and then you feel like you did something wrong. But ofcourse what you do everyday to improve impacts the next day. Does that make more sense?
