Anxiety attacks during sleep?

Anyone experience this?

I’ve had them before and I used to be able to shake them off within a few minutes after waking up. But lately, after waking up with a rapid heartbeat and hyperventilating, I’m feeling queasy, dizzy, disorientated, confused, shaky, and highly emotional. And it takes hours for those feelings to wear off.

I actually had similar happen last night, but before that I had many nights like that before being put on medication. I downloaded a Meme app and look at memes. That distracts me, makes me smile, and I usually fall back asleep. Sometimes it takes awhile to go back to sleep, but I can usually fall back asleep pretty quickly once I start glancing at memes.

Other times I put on ocean sounds or slow classical music and start relaxing every muscle in my body starting from my head to my toes.

I had that happen to me and now most nights I have to take medication. It’s a horrible way to wake up. Hope you find something to help you.

Yes laying on couch right now afraid to fall asleep because I know I’m going to wake up in the middle of the night panicking so I’m scared and when my alarm goes off I have a heart attack.... it takes me at least 3 hours at work to stop shaking and try to think which is soooo hard I feel stupid!

Now that you mention it, that is probably why I also started hanging out on my couch. I go there when I’m having a hard time falling asleep, when I wake up in the middle of the night from a panic attack, when I wake up too early, and when I feel like isolating on my boyfriend’s days off.

Exactly I slept in the bedroom the other night and it seemed worse so I’m just trying to go where the panic isn’t... I’ll sleep on the floor with the dog if I knew it would change things... but I guess I’ll settle for the couch I don’t have carpet.. lol

Yeah I think it’s the same for me too, and an added bonus is my cat is much more willing to hang out with me on the couch. Her presence is pretty comforting 🥰😺
