Doctor Won't Prescribe Anxiety Medication

I have been going to the same GP for a couple of years now. I have been on depression medication for the last 12 years or so, and on and off of anxiety medication as well.

Recently a close friend of mine had a serious stroke, and I lost my father to lung cancer. It has SERIOUSLY triggered my Health Anxiety. Every day I think I am dying of something new. "Is my heart beating weird?", "Why did I just get Dizzy?" blah blah. It triggers a panic attack and I break out into cold sweats and manifest all these "symptoms". It's honestly amazing what your mind can trick your body into feeling. But it is beginning to become unbearable. I can't stand it any more.

I talked to my GP about it, and she told me that they do not prescribe benzos, which is the only medication I have ever had success on (Lorazepam). So they put me on Hydroxyzine, which is TERRIBLE, then Busperone which did nothing. I am currently just white knuckling this anxiety and it's becoming too much.

Has anyone had an issue with a doctor refusing to prescribe this type of medication? Should I seek the help of a mental professional? Are there any herbal things that I can try to help out in the meantime?

For herbal stuff, I take the following, but have no idea if they really do anything :/ I guess everyone is different, because people online say they have good results with these.

- L-Theanine

- Ashwagandha

- L-Tryptophan

Many people also have good results with CBD oil, but I've never tried it.

Not many drs are prescribing benzos anymore because of the opioid crisis. Even psychiatrists. I was recently an inpatient and everyone there with anxiety panic disorder ect was on either propanol or hydroxide not including their SSRI’s. You couldn’t even get .5 of Ativan if you were in a full blown panic attack. It’s unfortunate that many people used their benzos as directed, never abused, and were not clinically dependent. But unfortunately many people did abuse and now really hard to get.

If you live in a state that allows medical marijuana get a card and try an indica strain or CBD oil if you do not want thc in it. Good luck. I can tell you that if you take a high enough dose of Zoloft or lexapro within a few weeks most of anxiety will subside

Hey man honestly i would switch doctors or get on an ssri for anxiety. My doctor had no problem prescribing me lorazepam. To take on an as needed basis.
