Trying to find support for Panic Disorder. I am struggling since my recent panic attack a month ago. Usually takes me a couple days to come down from it but this time it has been a month and several panic attacks weekly. I can not seem to break the cycle. Looking for any support or information that may be useful.

I found it helpful to learn about panic disorder. Being able to recognize the symptoms helped me to get better. It took some time but eventually they stopped all together. I’ve been panic attack free for about 4 years after having them regularly for 7 years. I don’t think I would have had them for so long had I followed my treatment plan my doctors gave me. Therapy and medication was critical to healing.

Thank you. I will look into it. I am guilty of not sticking to a treatment plan. I do take my medication daily though. So there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. I was doing well for many years. Is is so frustrating that is came back with a vengeance.

Yeah I feel grateful I haven’t had any backsides, but I feel like I’m prepared for them if I do. I had some close calls but no full blown panic attacks

How long have you had panic disorder for?

I have my first panic attack 12 years ago. I was rushed to the hospital via ambulance because I thought I was having a heart attack. Thankful it wasn't.

I had the same thing happen last month, I had no choice but to go to the physciatrist in the hospital and accept a course of medication, the 1st one he gave me didn't work so I went back and I have followed exactly what he said since last Saturday and I have been sleeping better and in general better without constant uncomfort as you explained above

I seem to do well on my meds until something happens then they seem to stop working. Like a facet gets turned on and just can't get turned back off. Ugh.

Have you looked into counciling?

Yes I see a counselor weekly. I'm wondering if it something hormonal. I see both my general practitioner and my psychiatrist this coming week. 😊
