Hello everyone. I’ve been looking for ways to get control over my panic attacks/anxiety. I have been battling with this for about 5 years now and enough is enough. I’ve tried medication which does not work for me, meditation, hypnosis and just flat out THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! . I am overweight but have been walking/working out everyday with hope this will help. So far it’s not. Has anyone tried talking to a therapist? If so does it help?

Hi and Welcome you have certainly come to the right place in getting a handle on
your anxiety/panic attacks. It does eventually get to the point of "enough is enough".
That is when you know you are ready to take that next step forward. Ironically, I had
tried medication, meditation and self hypnosis and found them beneficial and still do.
The one thing missing from your list of things you tried is "therapy". It's therapy that
allows you to uncover the root of the problem. We cannot sweep life events that have
affected us in the past and expect to go on each day w/o a hitch.
One of the books I had first read was Dr. Claire Weekes' book on "Hope & Help for Your
Nerves". Her theory of acceptance being the foundation in overcoming anxiety has been proven through the years. Without accepting that anxiety is nothing but a mind
game that is coming from our brain, we end up in a fear begets fear cycle and get nowhere. Without acceptance, those lies and fears can break through medication.
When we start to think negatively in that "this is not going to happen", it won't.
Our mind is powerful enough to accept that statement as the truth and we are right
back where we started. Believing that you can and will get better is the way to go.
For what you believe is what you get. I am so glad you are on this amazing forum.
I could go on and on forever as most people who know me have seen that.
My suggestion is to interact with the posts and responses. Learn from everyone's
journey and how they handled it. Take what you need and leave the rest.
Talk to you again soon. You are no longer alone. You are a part of our virtual support
family. In number we are strength. xx
Hello, ICanDoThis! I am so glad that you are actively looking for a way to end the anxiety. I am including a link to some information that you may find helpful:
Another thing you might try is using essential oils to boost your mood - oils that are in the citrus family are really good for this as well as peppermint and wintergreen. One of my favorite combinations is 3 drops of lemon, 3 drops of lavender and 1 drop of peppermint, mixed in coconut oil and rubbed on my wrists and the back of my neck. You can also diffuse this (minus the coconut oil) or purchase a special type of jewelry that soaks up the oil and then you wear it.
I will be praying for you to find the right combination that works to relieve you of all anxiety.
