Mirtazapine: Hi ive been on mirtazapine... - Anxiety and Depre...
Mirtazapine
It's ok, it is a good antidepressant, but has 2 major side effect. It increse digestive acid and you will become very fat. And in the morning you will be very sleepy all the time.
At first yes. I've taken Mirtazapine for years. It increased hunger and did cause weight gain, but after a couple of years, it leveled off. I was up to 125 lbs at one time and have been back to 110 for many many years. The morning grogginess does go away. I found that if I take it around 7 pm, then the morning I don't feel as tired. Hope that helps. I've been on Mirtazapine for over 30 years. Ugh! Tried so many times to get off, but it's the only thing that doesn't cause side effects like the SSRI's and SNRI's.
I also take mirtazapine for over 6 years, but I still have problem with weight. It create a dependence of carbohydrates and all the time need sweets. I also cannot get off antidepressant, when I try I feel very very bad.
I found mirtazapine very helpful but I did put on weight. I slept really well but found it hard to get up in the morning
I have found that any antihistamine mixed with antidepressants will have side effects. However, it makes me wired and I take mirtazapine. So each person may have different interactions.
I have been taking Mirtazapin for sleep and I love it. It gets the job done. It does make drowsy in the morning, but someone shared with me that if I take Vitaman D with a tall glass of water, fight the urge to sleep and get into a cool (not cold) shower it actually goes away before I leave my home and I'm wide awake. However I never considered it was the reason as to why I was increasing weight. Someone else on this thread mentioned it, and it gave me an aha moment. All in all, I do appreciate the deep rest it gives me. Thanks for the post and have a great day Pillsandtea.
