soon to be homeless with anxiety

My anxiety the last couple of weeks have gotten worse and now I'll be without a roof over my head. Not eve sure how i'll be able to keep my health insurance since I won't have an address. I may end up off my medication for my anxiety and diabetes. My social worker knows I'll be out on the streets Friday once i go to my last orthopedic appointment for my knee. I just cried today right after I messaged my neighbors letting them know what was going on and that i cant say goodbye in person due to me going into tears.

I would ask the local shelters for help. Like a church would be a good place to start. Someone once told me to look into HUD for help in buying a small place to live. For a year I had to live in my car.

I’m SO sorry to hear about your situation ☹️

Can you get a PO Box? I just moved and got one for about $12/mo.

Can you find a room to rent or find roommates? Are there social services you can access? What did your social worker say?

Social worker doesn't care. She has told me twice she was going to speak to her supervisor and still waiting

Get a new social worker. Their job is to help you.

Call your local homeless prevention center you can dial 211 from anywhere to be connected to your nearest and they should be able to help! I was just facing the very same scary thing and the very afternoon I was going to be homeless they found me a place! There were some great people that came out from our local homeless prevention center and very informative, and helpful. You can't go to the streets do yourself a favor and dail 211 and get in touch with them as soon as you can to give them as much time as you can to find you a place! I was unaware of the program, what they could do etc. I called on Wednesday had to be out of my place that very Friday. They can help with finances, special accommodations, etc.

I'm freaking out as I'm reading your post and just trying to come up with referrals … PATH (people assisting the homeless), Catholic Charities, AARP foundation has referrals, County Mental Health, your local public library, the public housing projects, forget 211 if they can't help you, call 911! Homelessness is an emergency, not a choice!

Reach out to any and every church, synagogue, anything, that you can find local - that you can call or you can get to. Dump yourself on their doorstep and beg for help!
