Anxiety problems.

I used to be in therapy 15 years ago for about 20 years. I feel like I am in need of it again. Not sure what kind of therapy to get at this point. Lately I have had anxiety when seeing my Mom. I have unresolved feelings and thoughts from my childhood that come up when I see her unhappy or struggling. I want to help but my anxiety is getting in the way.

Psychodynamic therapy is supposed to be good for unresolved family stuff. Cognitive behavioral therapy is good for anxiety.

@Flying2 I think Kat63 knows what she's talking about. I use cbt myself. If it's new to you, there's a ton of stuff out on the web about it. From what I've seen it's pretty consistent from one source to the next. Definitely let your therapist lead you. I just encourage you to push through with you mom, using whatever strategy seems best to you (& your therapist). It just seems like if you do push thru with her it would be the best way to be sure you've dealt with any of the hidden stuff from your past with her.Prayers.
