Hey there I made a green smoothie with a banana and it helped me feel a bit calmer so I thought I’d share. It tastes good too

Spinach (1 cup or more to your liking)

1 frozen banana

1 cup almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)

Blend.

Interesting. There's bound to be a nutrient in there that is calming.

Bananas contain tryptophan which is a precursor to serotonin!!! Great drink! Wait double checked my info....they do have tryptophan, but some believe it cannot cross the blood brain barrier. Who knows? I’m going with it🥰

Potassium in the banana and calcium in the almond milk!

Are there foods that actually act to calm the anxiety? For real, not just a bunch of internet sales pitches.

Oncologist suggested ginger.

My body does not tolerate meds or supps. They make me sick.

I sip ginger probiotic tea all day long. Ginger tastes terrible. I'm adjusting and looking for the improvements to come in with the tea sipping.

Ginger gummies are much stronger. Will give them a try any way.

Anyone out there have any success stories to help to calm anxiety with foods?

Ginger is a healer of the gi/stomach and is great for those with gi issues and wonderful for chemo patients!! And pregnant mothers. We use it a lot in our house for acid reflux, bloating, general stomach upset. That is why people drink ginger ale when they have the flu!

Calming foods unfortunately are carbohydrates!!! Think bread, pasta, crackers, cereal. The issue with those is carb addiction and weight gain. Done properly, they are very beneficial! (Even gluten free options) potatoes too! Just be mindful of portions.

If you tolerate dairy, warm milk or hot cocoa (not the fake dry packets) has tryptophan that really calms and can make you sleepy.

Teas like sleeoy tea, sleepy time tea exxtra, kava kava tea, chamomile tea are always in my pantry:)

Do you use essential oils? Lavender, chamomile, “serenity blend,” and many more can do wonders!!!

Have you read “Potatoes not Prozac?” Interesting. Also, “The Mood Cure” by Julia Ross has some things to consider. Sorry if you have already checked them out!!
