You are in good company.

Same here. It’s a constant battle. For me medication usually is the answer/ a lot of self reflection / talking about it and taking action meaning using all the tools in my toolbox 🧰 I always go back to Ajahn Brahms on you-tube. I highly recommend his talks

From the book "Feeling Good" by David Burns, MD: "When you are depressed or anxious, your thoughts will always be illogical, distorted, unrealistic, or just plain wrong." I hope you are receiving treatment for your illness.

I know the feeling well. With medication and therapy I have become better at not thinking those thoughts but I am at my core, a very insecure person so those thoughts still creep in. My advice that I got before was when one of those thoughts hit you, take a minute and think it through. You may find your initial reaction was not based in reality but just a illogical reaction.

Ah the ways we torture ourselves. Much love and support to you.

When you have too much negative input you are bound to feel uncomfortable.

It's worse when your nearest and dearest say something. Sometimes you have to keep a poker face, or make a riposte which makes your other half laugh, it's when you buckle you feel pathetic. A reply such as I'll remember that helpful comment the next time you walk in the door with your muddy shoes....Hope you can stand your ground as your confidence is lower if you suffer anxiety and depression,

Thank you all for the helpful replies. I do have medication but am always scared I’ll be addicted so I barely take it. Like I’m so silly I’ll take a 1 mg klonopin and either take 1/2 or 1/4 when the anxiety gets too bad and I’d say it helps a little but I do think at 1/4 of a mg that’s prob a placebo effect lol.

My doc always says I won’t get addicted on so little a dose but I can’t get that idea out of my head.

It is a good idea to be careful of addiction to Klonopin. The good news is that there are many other anti anxiety meds you can take. I take 3 different anti anxiety to help me get through my days. But none are addictive.

What do you take May I ask? Thx

I recommend trying Buspirone. You take 3 times a day and helps to keep the anxiety under control somewhat. Things still set me off of it helps. I know and sympathize with you how difficult it is to live with anxiety. Also, I recently tried "Healing Touch" done by a certified clinician. It seemed to help also. I found someone through a large church in my hometown.

What side effects are there with Buspirone?

I get a little tired during the day and have dry mouth sometimes.

I know how you feel. There’s a book by Dr. David Burns called Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy, and it has cognitive exercises you can do to correct the distortions in your thinking that lead to depression and anxiety.

Think someone else suggested that book. Def going to check it out.

I'll bet your hubby would be happy to prove that he still loves you! At least it's one less thing to worry about!

Well that isn’t something he needs to do when it’s my own crazy thinking.

Actually, I was just joking. I'm glad you're weren't offended. A little humor doesn't hurt on here, since there is so much serious stuff going on.

Feel free to explain further. This post always gets replies even so many months later so you can see it’s common.
