Hi, I too am new to this forum, but not the ‘system’. One of my illnesses is depression and anxiety. Some may think that’s 2! But to me they’re one illness, buecause the more anxious you become the deeper the deppression, and so on...Several years ago, I was given a course of E.C.T. I was not aware of what it involved, or told any side effects, etc. I suffered and still do, from short term memory loss, followed by flashbacks, of being led into a room, totally oblivious of what was to change my life forever, 8 sesions later!
Is there anyone else out there with similar experiences?

I agree, I have had therapists trying to help me figure out if my anxiety is the root of my depression or vice versa. I think this is one of the most ignorant albeit well-ment mistakes people who have not been through this make; to try to separate them. They go hand in hand, and to me it doesnt really matter which one is the cause of the other. They have to be fought together. Stay strong!
ECT causes short term memory loss, if you still have this, you need to talk to your doctor about seeing a neurologist. I found a treatment for my treatment resistant severe depression, the anxiety is treated seaperately. Although neither is good, they are different, feeling anxiety without being depressed is something I never thought I'd experience, but it happened. I refused to give up and was aggressive in finding treatment. First, the depression, then I stopped the panic attacks, now the anxiety. I only have one piece left, to be complete. It took half my life, but it is worth all the effort.
