Anyone else reading "My Year of Rest and Relaxation"

by Ottessa Moshfegh? It should be a cautionary tale about a young woman (with inherited money) who finds an unscrupulous doctor willing to prescribe her just about everything. And she finds she can sleep virtually all the time, though she also engages in dangerous, unaware activity while sleeping (including walking to the store and taking the subway).

The author tells the story with dark humor and, I have to admit, it sounds kind of appealing. Unfortunately, you can only attain this lifestyle if you have unlimited funds, no job or responsibilities, and a highly unethical psychiatrist. Nice fantasy, though!

I hadn't heard of this book but I will look it up. I've had similar fantasies! I will say, though, I'm currently giving myself as much R&R as I can as I acclimate to medication. I realized that for the last year, since my anxiety as been acute, I've worn myself out. Sleep has become a commodity and though I know you can't 'catch up', I'm getting as much of it as I can presently.

If you can get R&R and it's helping with anxiety, that's great. The main character in the book takes it hilariously (and dangerously) too far, but that's a different story. Good luck!
