10 Ways To Find a Belief System That's Right For You

Hey guys! So, I grew up believing what my parents believed and most likely you did too. But most of us on here are now adults and now that we know more about the reality of life, it can make us question those beliefs and question things about life itself. Sometimes, instead of putting us on a more enlightened path, it just confuses us even more! How frustrating with all the religions out there! I am writing about this because having a belief system and devoting ourselves strongly to it, is one tool that we can use to fight the depression and anxiety that plagues us everyday. It is a way of keep our mental faculties strong and grounded. I hope that if you feel lost in life right now, this guide can help you find a belief system that is as unique as you are, gives you peace, and enhances your soul.

1. Resonance. Does the belief system's doctrine resonate with something deep inside you? Does it "ring a bell?"

2. Does it believe in something that you are you passionate about? Become an activist and Take up the Cause!

3.Does it make you feel powerful and more in control of your life?

4. Does it make you feel grounded and worthy, with both feet planted firmly to the earth?

5. Does it involve accessible ingredients/objects for rituals and Symbolism? (No Joining the We Get Rocks From the Moon Church)

5. Does it feel Truthful and like you've always known that this was your Truth?

6. Does it Answer maybe some of your existential questions? (Why are we here, Why do bad things happen?)

7. Does it have a good likelihood of connecting you with others who believe the same? (Does it have a community "feel?")

8. Does it make you want to know more, example; Its history and how it originated?

9. Is it safe for your mental and physical health? (No destructive cults)

10. Does it stand for things you Value? (Has a good open attitude regardless of race, is family-oriented, takes good care of its members?)

And for those with no belief system; that is OK, too! Because that is a belief system in and of itself. (You BELIEVE that a belief system is unneccessary, you would rather write your own Destiny than study it from the stars, etc.)

None of your three religious posts appear to have anything to do with anxiety disorder or depression. Are you sure this forum is right for you?

You say "Become an activist and take up the cause!" Trying to recruit people to religion is against the guidelines of this forum.

Many people here find religion and spirituality helpful to their recovery and are fully entitled to mention it as part of their post. But your long posts only refer to anxiety disorder and depression once in passing and are otherwise all about angels, churches and belief systems.

In her well known book 'Self help for your nerves' the author Claire Weekes says that religion is a good companion along the road to recovery but by no means essential.

Can we get back to the subject of anxiety disorder and depression please?

Actually my recent faith is the #1 thing helping me against depression and anxiety and someone trying to "recruit" people would NOT post an article on how to find "your own" belief system.
