Scared of new anti depressant

My psychiatrist gave me a scrip for a different med. I’m scared to death to take it because the side effects are things I’m already trying to deal with. The last one I took landed me in er with a panic attack. I have a problem with palpitations made worse by digestive issues. This one lists both things as possible side effects. Verrrry scarey! Has anyone out there taken Sam e? I hear it can help with less side effects. I’m really desperate here She knew I had these issues.

I I think most medications would carry the same possible side effects most are probably ok and wouldn't cause reaction but if you have fears then try find ones without those possible effects.

I totally get your fears. When i had my first significant bout of depression, along with anxiety, both Zoloft and celexa caused an increase in anxiety. I was gun shy for a while, tried the natural road with no benefits. Finally did some research and requested remeron (mirtazipine). I went lower and slower than the recommended doses. It ended up being very effective. I had read about Sam E which is a substance we have in our bodies to regulate hormones. It has mixed reviews. If you have evidence that your symptoms are hormone related, it may be worth trying. I was pretty sure mine wasn’t (though I hoped it was) so I never tried it. Good luck with whatever you decide. And don’t be afraid to speak up to your doctor about what you’d like to try.

That’s the experience I had with Lexapro I thought I would crawl out of my skin. Now my doc wants me to try Norpramine. I just can’t handle more ibs and palpitations I’m thinking about Sam e for both my depression and muscle pain. I’ve heard if you take enough it can be very effective. It seems like she didn’t really read what I wrote in my initial paperwork about having palps and ibs. Frustrating!
