Lexapro hangover

Saw my therapist yesterday. When I told her what happened she told me that as we age we can’t handle meds at the normal strength as well. I’m 68 and I guess aged 😀 includes me! I’ve learned it can take 50 percent longer to metabolize! That probably leaves me in the dumper till Sunday I see little improvements but still dealing with most of the issues I wanted everyone to know how much their support has meant to me I always got good info and encouragement I

Can’t get that anywhere else except my therapist and she’s not always available in the middle of the night I teared up writing this. First time I’ve been able to do that since this all started. Progress!

Well done for writing out how you feel :)

BTW, I absolutely agree with what your therapist said. People don't realise but as we get older (even over 40) it takes our bodies a lot longer to metabolise any medications. I am totally in favour of reducing all uneccessary meds wherever possible but also we must make sure that our meds are kept at safe limits for mental health and unfortunately some people need several meds in order to counteract some of the severer symptoms of mental health problems.

Some meds for physical health problems are also essential. My dad is on blood thinners and without them he could have a DVT. People who are diabetic would really be no-where without their insulin. With psychiatric meds I honestly do wonder if I need to be on as many and I avoid pain meds and have physical therapy instead. I take multivitamins and magnesium but only in the daily recommended dose as even taking too much of these can be harmful to the system.

Gx
