Okay I am literally fucking terrified! So this morning I woke up with the song "See You Again" in my head....I couldn't get it out for a while.... Then as I was washing clothes I dropped my phone, the phone bought by my mom's ex boyfriend's money and I cracked the screen....Holy shit I think I fucked up and created a bad omen or something.... Then literally as soon as that happened a friend of mine told me about a dream where they were sure they were dead and dreams like that tend to mean the end of something going on and Just now I saw a Hearse drive by......I've also been seeing and hearing a lot of the word coffin.....Idk what to do anymore what's going to happen to me? I can't control this anymore....I feel like I'm in imminent danger now and idk what to do or expect.....

HeyItsThatKidd, you are in no danger, you are perfectly safe, you aren't going anywhere any time soon. Your mind is picking up on a number of things and words in order to justify your preconceived fear that you're going to die.

Anxiety exaggerates concerns, worries and fears ten fold and this applies to our normal concern not to die before our time. Only because of your anxiety this minor concern become magnified into a major obsessive fear.

So relax and do nothing safe in the knowledge that this is yet another case of anxiety up to its usual tricks.

If I had a pound or a dollar for every time someone posts here about their feeling of imminent death I would be writing this to you from my yacht in the south of France!

This helps a lot, thank you. But these coincidences come together so well....I couldn't control myself at all

And there's the answer: coincidences. There is no rhyme or reason for them. It's us, in our own minds, creating a story to connect them together. You got caught up in it. It happens to all of us. The mind can create things if you allow it to and you did. Anyone can freak themselves out if they truly believe they are experiencing something!!! For example my sister used to Google every symptom on the internet. She convinced herself one day that she had cancer when it wasnt that at all.

Oh hypochondria? I did the same thing your sister did for years about the same disease until my health scare came

Please dont get caught up in self fulfilling prophecy. You are freaking yourself out for no reason. You gotta calm your mind.

Jeff1943 did his usual great job in his post. I'd like to add something, though.

Please get rid of this "bad omen" concept. When you cracked the phone, it "meant" that unfortunately, you were a little careless. When someone told you they had a crazy dream, it "means" that they had a crazy dream. Who doesn't have crazy dreams?

No one likes to think about death, but you're going to see hearses and coffins every so often because they are a part of human life.

If you take "omens" seriously, you're setting yourself up to be whipped into hysterics all the time over exactly nothing. Yes, bad stuff will happen in life from time to time, but you don't need any tea leaves for that. You'll deal with it when it happens - and you'll do just fine.

There are a lot of wise people here, sharing great insight, which I agree with. Every day has its coincidences which we don't pick up on or shrug off if we are in a good place emotionally. Having anxiety, depression, or other things going on can increase that feeling of doom or put a black cloud over our lives. When the brain isn't acting rationally, we tend to look for coincidences, thinking they are signs and have meaning, and that they're somehow connected. But, everyone, everywhere, has coincidences fall into their laps every day, so you are not alone when things seem to happen in an fatal, ordered fashion, as opposed to simply randomly. So, I would suggest trying to consciously not allow yourself to see events as signs, but to shrug them off and see if that helps. When your brain tries to keep taking you back to a fatalistic view, shut that thought down, and force your brain to think of something else and make your body switch activities so that you can distract yourself. If that doesn't work for you, I would recommend a great therapist who can help you look at the things underlying the anxiety you have over events. I hope none of what I've written offends you. I have the best of intentions, but things may have come out wrong. People are here 24/7, willing to listen and give feedback. I'm glad you posted! That's a positive step!
