Petrified of SSRI and sexual side effects

Hi, this post may be more damaging than good, but I want a variety of responses...so, my doctor is trying to put me on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety. I've had a rough few months and things seem to keep piling on. I tried bupropion 150mg XL and it drove me up a wall after 5 days and I had two major panic attacks, one landing me in the ER. I stopped it immediately and the panic attacks went away.

I have done my research on SSRIs and it's frightening. The sexual side effects are so scary to me, I have a great libido now and I don't want to lose that. The NIH recently put out a paper telling the FDA to put more warnings on the sexual side effects of SSRIs and the fact that they can cause you to lose all sexual interest, or to never regain your libido back to where it was, and some studies of people going numb down there, regardless of how long they've been on it. Even some in just a few days. I want to take something to help me along but I can't handle the thought of even risking losing the pleasure of sex as a 25yo female.

Any advice/experience or other options people have tried about this is helpful. I've read about 25-70% of people on them have this side effect.

I have been on 20 mg Lexapro since it first came out. Of all the SSRIs that I tried (and I think I tried them all), Lexapro has the least effect on sex.

Right now though, sex is the least of my concerns. I am feeling too depressed to even think about sex! In fact, I would give up sex completely if my depression would go away!

Anyway, Lexapro was great for me for many years, but I fear that it quit working.
