I had to say goodbye to my Artois. I went through great lengths in taking him to UC Davis to the best vet specialist and it turns out he had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). He was 3 years old and the condition was something common in Maine Coon breeds. I believe he is no longer suffering and for that I am grateful.

Dearest goodbye
Sorry for your loss. No one wants their pet to suffer.
I cried watching him suffer more than I did putting him down. A huge weight was lifted off my shoulder when we got to be with him at his very last moments and watch him go to a better place. I tend to use humor when I am grieving. It has been nice to talk about the funny times with him and i like to joke that I killed him because I had to make that hard decision of putting him down. I was in the process of getting a home and looked forward to him being in a new home with me. But everything happens for a reason. Thank you
I have had to put down a dog and a cat. They were both old so they lived a good long life. The dog had a stroke and the cat had a rare form of leukemia. It is not easy. Maybe we will see them again in when we pass on.
I have a warped sense of humor that I use too.
I wonder who changes their cat litter in heaven?🤔
Thank you
My heart goes out to you, he was beautiful.
You did the right thing as he is no longer suffering.
You have 3 years of happy memories of him.
RIP Artois xx
I’m so sorry for your loss. I have had to have a cat put down due to an incurable illness too - some years ago now, but it’s so heartbreaking. You’ve done the right thing and relieved your wee cat of his suffering. Take care xx
