Trying to get by

JaylinAmeliaSnyder profile image

It's been almost a week since my parents left for their cruise, and my anxiety has been very present. It's been really stressful having to find away to get to and from school everyday because I can't ride the bus. And just being home alone really keeps me on edge I have a hard time sleeping at night. I got less than an hour of sleep last night and today I can already feel an anxiety attack coming on. I still have 3 more days till they come back.

Jaylin here's a few helpful suggestions. Don't drink pop or anything with caffeine in it, especially near bedtime. If you have friends, reach out to them in whatever way you like to the best. Blow up their emails, text messaging or instant messaging. Communication is the best free thing you can do. I tell everyone this: Soak in some sun early in the morning. It's relaxing, good for you and helps you sleep at night. Use low, droning music or a fan or whatever type of white noise you like to help you sleep. The sound makes you feel less alone. Don't eat near bedtime. If you're thirsty, sip on some water. If there are some vitamins handy, try 1 potassium, 1 magnesium & 1 calcium. They all have relaxing, tranquilizing affects on the body. If you can ever get some melatonin, try 3mgs an hour before bedtime. Make sure your room is reasonably dark when you sleep. Your body has to think it's night time and time to sleep. Weather permitting, spend as much time outdoors as you safely can. Being in natural daylight is soothing and calming to the body. See if you can get a friend to take you to school. Keep reaching out here because myself or someone will always respond. Peace, light and tranquility....

Good thing is they will be back in a couple days! And I agree with the poster who recommended melatonin. It could help you get some sleep, just take it at least 8 hours before you have to be up.
