I’m really not sure how this works. Just decided to search support groups online because I’m going through a terrible depression stage in my life. I have no motivation to do anything. Haven’t ate, barely slept. I feel like everything and everyone is against me. I feel alone. I just need help....

I am going through a lot of stuff at this moment. However, I wished to tell you I think you found a good place with actually caring and intelligent people! I hear a lot of 'this to shall pass' as well as, 'what doesn't destroy me makes me stronger' from my world. Yeah, that helps SO much! Depression is timeless and painful. One forgets that one had any other state of being. I personally, do not actually know. I do know that we must survive and thrive, not just for ourselves, but others suffering in lonely, isolated Depression.

It also does not help that our society, especially USA, seems to think we should be abnormally productive and oh, so happy, happy, happy. False to ourselves and presenting masks where affluence is all that matters. We must always be productive and busy. This is not human! Frankly, it is weird.

Be as kind and nurturing to yourself as you possibly can. Recall, you also, have a soul and (please ignore this if it offends,) are a beloved child, unique, of The Universe.

I like this- I think this being constantly productive ( with no time off seven days a week) comes from a Puritan "work ethic". The puritans ( who were outcasts if we recall ) believed that the richer they were the "better" they were. Some of that is still ingrained in people. Yikes!

You said it perfectly! Totally agree! (Probably also where intolerance and homophobia came from.) On a humorous note...I remember where I told this guy "after all, we are all homosapiens..."he sharply game back with "I ain't no Homo!" So true, sadly for him.

Yeah, I drive my sons nuts. If they ask me one question about history or myths out comes the lecture. Yep, all about dead civilizations...they wear head phones now.
