Had a really good day

I’ve been really struggling for several wks now with a severe bout of depression and extreme anxiety, i feel really disappointed with myself as I was doing so well a couple of months ago, I’d completed the 6 wk telephone CBT sessions and had started to put what I had learnt into practice and it was really helping and I wasn’t experiencing nowhere near as many panic attacks and was beginning to reduce the level of anxiety I had been experiencing but then it all went out the window when I had to make the extremely difficult decision to have my beloved dog Winnie put to sleep, it all happened so fast, it wasn’t like she had been poorly for a while and so I was prepared for that to happen, she was fine but in the space of 2 days she went down hill so quickly, she began being sick on a Saturday night and then on Sunday I noticed she had diarrhoea and wasn’t eating much, by Monday she had stopped eating all together and was struggling to walk and kept toppling over, by Monday night she had stopped drinking and I was having to syringe a mixture of honey and water into her mouth every hr or so, then on the Tuesday morning the vet advised me the kindest thing to do was to put her to sleep straight away so as not to prolong her suffering, it was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make and I was completely devastated about letting her go, then the overwhelming grief sent me into a downward spiral and it’s taken me wks to climb back out of the black hole of despair I was in and get back on the rd to recovery again, after a lot of hard work I’ve finally got back to the same level of progress I had achieved b4 I completely went off the rails but I’m back on the track and slowly but surely making my way towards a happier and content way of life, I attended my local MH support group for the 1st time since I lost my dog Winnie, and I’m so pleased to say I throughly enjoyed myself, it was so nice to be able to chat to others who have similar issues and so completely understand what your going through and it’s such a great place to go to help ease you back into social situations and events as everyone is so supportive and extremely kind and caring and there’s a wonderful relaxed and calming atmosphere, they have lots of different things for you to do everything from knitting to all kinds of art, they also do palettes classes and next wk I will be attending the deep relaxation sessions that they have recently introduced as an alternative for anyone who is not able or interested in doing palettes, we are extremely lucky to have such fantastic services available to anyone who is in need of some help and support in not only getting your life back on track but to the point where u actually start to enjoy your life again 👍🏻😊❤️
