I am new here. I have been diagnosed with severe GAD and panic attacks. Been through hell and back and this came out of nowhere. Trying to get on meds that work and beginning counseling soon. Went for help yesterday. I am usually a very active person. I make it a point to be positive, help others and have my faith. I am compassionate and caring towards others as well.. This is the worst thing I have ever dealt with in my life. It helps but still feeling bad. Hope being here can bring some relief. Bless you all.

Hi my name is Nicole and I am also new to this group people on this group are really nice and friendly I would like to know more on what GAD is if you don't mind me asking
Hi Gardengramma, what’s going on? Are you referring to General Anxiety Disorder? And panic disorder?
I have been diagnosed with both of those as well including Major depression and borderline personality disorder. It’s hell and anything can set off the panic and anxiety.
There is always someone here willing to hear what’s happening. Do you want to share?
I'm sorry your going through this...may I ask....are you saying this is a fairly recent thing? Have there been any traumatic events in your life prior to this? It is true that sometimes these things don't develop until later in life...nobody knows why. I know my depression is chemical....but my issues from childhood etc. contribute to some other things that make it worse...kind of a nature and nurture thing.
I have GAD and have had panic attacks in the past. Therapy will help. Give it time. For me I eventually realized that there was either a trigger or a thought that started the snowball rolling down the hill. Mindfulness helped me slow down enough to realize when that is happening and intervene sooner. It is a process. I am glad you are here.
