Ain't that the truth.....I had a drop dead gorgeous room-mate in the college dorms when I was at school, and no one really just talked to her...men wanted to date her, women either wanted to be her or hated her...and she was actually an extremely intelligent and very kind person. We were pretty good pals in school and had our little group. But very few people were in our inner circle of friends, with us she could be herself. We worked with special needs kids during the summer and on a school field trip, she and I were sitting on a bench, each with a kid in tow, and she said to me something I will never forget.....she said....'You know, this is the only time I feel normal', I was kinda taken off guard by that and asked her what she meant. ‘She said, these kids don't treat me any differently than they do anyone else, they just accept me as a nice lady', she said' 'Most people don't realize what a handicap beauty can be, she said she didn't see herself as exceptional, but was treated like she was only a beautiful face and body, and nothing else by most people. I think that was the case for Marilyn Monroe too, she was very intelligent and took acting classes with Lee Strasberg. She just got type cast by the studios and never got to be the actress she could have been.

The body is just the vehicle to get us around, we are soul with a spirit, not teached in this superficial world, If we paid more attention to this we would have less mental health problems.

I do notice a lot of what is posted here is around how others feel they are viewed by people around them, whether they are perfect strangers, friends, or family. And it is something that maybe for me, it has more to do with my age, that I don't really care what other people think about how I look. I'm grateful for that to not be one of my issues any more. I treat people the way I would want to be treated, and actions are what are more important to me. As they say...beauty is only skin deep, if your not a kind person on the inside...the rest is just window dressing....
