Hi daru... just how young are you? We are not doctors. I would suggest talking with your parents about how you feeling. They may be able to take you to a doctor or therapist who will better be able to give you a diagnosis. Usually depression doesn't last but 3-4 days each month. Sounds like there may be more going on during those 3-4 days. x

I hear you daru... in admitting that you now have something that we may be able to help you with. There are many young people on this forum who are in the same position as you are. It's scary, I know. Do you have a school counselor you could talk with regarding the next step to take? What are you interested in? What are you good at? Are you planning to go to college this fall? All this uncertainty is making you anxious and depressed at the same time.

daru, once you have a plan in mind, then you can follow through in having some direction in life. I'm hoping others in your situation will give you some ideas as to how they addressed the same questions after leaving high school. x

Im not a doctor but from experience it sounds like u are developing depression and generalized anxiety disorder just by the symptoms u r expressing. Being so young though u r catching it early enough to get better so that u can live a happy fullfilled life. When u see a doctor and get diagnosed dont just stop there. There is more help out there than the basic therapist and psychiatrist. Im 36 now and those treatments alone never worked for me and i started treatment when i was 17. So it was a waist of my time and im still sick and suffering at 36. Bit remember everyone is different so that could work for u. Having proper supports is so important. Research all the programs in ur county that u could get into. For example, theres peer support, casemanagement, support groups, and programs that help u with life goals. And there is so many more. Find urself an awesome treatment center that treats all ur needs and not the basics. Make sure they teach u how to advocate for urself. There are so maby coping skills that u can do for urself when u r currently going thru a depression or anxiety episode. Some examples are journaling, anything art related, music, going for a walk, adult coloring, finding a hobby, getting into video games or sports, and the list goes on. Its different for everyone. Stay away from drugs and alcohol. And try attending church and getting involved witth them. Praying is huge. Volunteering might be a nice distraction. And def talk to ur parents if they support u. If they dont find a friend or family member. And education is a must. Learn all u can about mental illness and anxiety and depression. NAMI is one organization that u can go on there website to educate urself. If u need medication fine but try hoslistic measure because you dont want to have to rely on meds ur whole life. Again u may not or may need to for short time but try and not be on them ur whole life. Ur young enough u can beat this. If ur doctor does recommend medication telk him u wamt to take a genetics testing. Very important. It tells u what meds r good for ur body and what meds arent. Good luck and i hope the best for u. U r in good hands in this forum. Talk talk talk and let people in when things get hard. Dont isolate. I hope this helps.
