Effexor

My doc wants me to try Effexor. Has anyone here had any success with it? How bad are the side effects?

I don't remember the effectiveness, but I do remember the "brain zaps" when quit cold turkey.

I’ve had limited success with it and have been taking it around 8 months now. It has eased my anxiety to an extent. We have played with my doses and I can’t go any higher. It has done nothing for my depression and at times made it worse. My experience with the side effects were terrible in the beginning. The nausea and headaches were unbearable. Taking it at night helped.

I loved Effexor XR and actually am transitioning back to it after switching to Zoloft for 3 years while pregnant and than trying for #2. After the constant 'i'm dying' anxiety I decided to switch back to Effexor. I had no side effects, but coming off (75mg) did give me side effects. It worked great for me though.
