Depression and anxiety issues has damaged my career. Don't have a job for more than 9 months now. In my last two jobs, I was laid off because of drop in productivity and in my inability to perform. I honestly don't know what to do. Even if I want to make a career change, I have no idea what I want to do. Even if I want to try something new, I lose focus and interest very soon and in the process causes a lot of stress. Consequently, I have been struggling with insomnia for a year or so and it seems to get better because of lifestyle changes. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Stuck without a job
Have you thought of SSDI it takes along time to get approved but if you can’t hold a job because of a disability, then you should go for it.
Look for a state ( I don't know if you live in the United States but if you are in another country you may have similar services) run rehab or job placement organization. You may need to have a referral from a therapist or doctor if you have one. But they would be able to offer you some guidance. Plus you may be able to go there for free or minimal cost. If you have a job placement organization near you, they should be able to offer you testing and help if you are classified as having a disability. Good luck with all of this. I have been in your shoes plenty of times and it isn't easy.
You might not want to hear this but im going to be blunt anyways cus I can relate to ur situation. You might need to apply for ssdi or ssi and that way you dont have to worry about working and instead focus ur time on getting better and seeking proper treatment. It doesnt have to be permanent and you can stop it when u r better and feel u can work again but it sounds like u have a lot of work cut out for u snd that working just might not be it for u right now. I had to stop working snd I now spend my days working on myself and getting better. I find hobbies snd i work on workbooks snd read and listen to music and write. I try and sort thru what i want to do with the rest of my life and being on disability helps with that. There should be tons of treatment programs in ur county and one will be a great match for you. Do research about them first before jumping into one. And do ur own homework and educate yourself on ur condition. Treatment is alot of work so working night need to be put on hold until u can get urself together. I hope that helps.
hello, remote jobs or working from home could help. Try that.
Just wondered- and I am not in the med field - were you ever tested for ADD or ADHD? You mentioned that you lose focus and there is a loss in productivity.
I went on disability and tried to go back to work but my insomnia was so horrible I couldn’t last more than a few months. Your health, mental and physical is number one. I am not working right now and my insomnia has improved a lot, are you seeing a doctor to get written off work, to file a disability claim? That way you will have at least income and can focus on getting well.
It has been 10 months since I went for a job. I am focused on my well being and making great strides. I am doing better on my insomnia as well. Going so long without a job has been financially difficult. I am trying to find odd jobs to pay my bills. Thanks
