Setbacks.....

I have been employing Claire Weekes strategy to panic, and it has been fairly controllable good for a few weeks since I started (even though I still have them daily; they aren't as strong as they were). But; now I am having a bad one....how long does it take to have these things manageable? It's so annoying and depressing to deal with these, and to have this bad one after a few weeks.... -sigh-

Yes; I have hypochondria type of OCD.

so any hint of illness can provoke panic. not so good. you will know that generally you don't become ill with every illness you think about, you are probably more aware than most of that as a fact. there's little point in just hoping your thoughts will just stop affecting you, it takes a lot of hard work to get rational. how do you deal with the negative and irrational thoughts when they come into your head?

Well; Weekes' strategy has been working fairly well until today. I keep my body relaxed and not tense and I keep acting normal while acknowledging what I am feeling and tell myself it won't kill me and just keep doing what I am doing.

i really think you are doing the right things, you could be so supportive of others on here too you know. share the 'weeke's strategy' as lots of people may not have heard about it. just try to put today down to a bump in the road... it really doesn't have to hinder your progress, i think you have a really active attitude to this.

I do try to talk about her to people. Her audio "Pass Through Panic" is the thing that helps me the most.

must have a listen, a helpful voice at times is great. what about some other bits of info for us on here over the next couple of days? every time you feel a bit of a wobble coming on, post on the forum and get some feedback.

I can post about her. I only had the chance to hear the one audio book.

hope you get to hear more. sometimes though, like tonight, chatting with you has distracted me from my wobble. so, keep in touch and hopefully get lots of support.
