I'm always excited to discover new poets, so thank you for posting! I Googled Thomas Norton, and found that he was a 16th century writer of verse, which didn't seem to comport with the language of the selection you posted, so I did a little more digging. I think your post is a quote from Thomas Merton, the 20th century writer and theologian. My wife enjoys his work, though I haven't read much of it.
