Waking up tense and tight chest

So lately I haven’t been getting enough sleep. And I wake up with those symptoms. AND what’s bothering me is that I have anxiety in the day time which hardly ever happens and usually hits me at night since my first ever attack was around 11pm. SO, I’m like what the hell... can anyone relate?

Lately I've been waking up with a racing heartbeat and it's definitely from anxiety because I'm able to calm myself after. But I went to the dr anyway and they said it can happen. Anxiety is weird like that.

A.. (hugs). It’s sooo darn scary. Are you on meds? I’m thinking about contacting my doctor about new meds. I kinda feel like it’s getting worse-

Yes I started 20mg Citalopram and 300 mg of Gabapentin for almost a month now and still hasn't kick in 😞

I can. I've woken up with tightness in my chest and nausea. Feeling of dread. It gets better thru out the day. What do you do to try and easy it. I drink cold water or a warm chamomile tea.

Lack of sleep can cause your breathing to be affected. I find tightness in the chest can be caused by too cold a bed room or very cold weather. Also I find dust does not help. We have no carpet, so have to sweep every day - don't know where the dust comes from.

To ease my breathing, I take a type of antihistamine, and cough medicine which opens up the airways, and helps me sleep. It's lying down when the chest goes tight. I find if my weight goes up so my abdomen is big, it makes it worse. I have lost some weight, and it has helped the breathing. Perhaps you can ask your chemist for something to help your breathing at night which won't interact with medication. Do you have a sleep problem as well? .I have a sleep disorder and have to take a sleeping pill otherwise I don't sleep a wink
